So here we are... the "Challenge" part of the "Goofy Challenge." The Full Marathon. So gather round people, wherever you may be, and admit that this Challenge is totally crazy, and accept it that soon I was miserable. If your time to you is worth savin', then you better read fast, or this will take all day, for the recap it is a comin'.1
Well my friend Phil (not his real name) and I decided that just running a half or a full marathon wasn't enough... we thought we'd do both... yep, we're F^%&ing Goofy!
runDisney finally revealed the 20th Anniversary medal for the WDW Full Marathon.
Overall,I really like it. The double spinning concept is very cool. I'm not crazy about the stabby flag at the bottom, but I will be happy and proud to wear this bad boy in January.
A couple of Goofy-related items have come to my attention today. First... the NEW course for the WDW Marathon was announced this morning, along with a cool RunDisney video:
The BIG news for this is that we get to run along the Walt Disney World Speedway and through the baseball stadium at the Wide World of Sports (the same stadium the Atlanta Braves do their spring training). In fact, the baseball stadium will be where the Mile 20 Spectacular (to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the WDW Marathon)will take place. Check out the course below (or go here for a BIG map)
I'm pretty excited about this... having never run a full marathon (although that will have changed by January), I think this will be an awesome course.
The other bit of news is the fact that the Goofy Challenge is already over 60% full....
Well, I did it. I signed up for the 2013 Walt Disney World Goofy "Race and a Half" Challenge. For those who don't know, for the Goofy, you run the WDW Half Marathon on Saturday, and then run the WDW Full Marathon the next day on Sunday.
I may have actually gone insane. I may already be regretting it. It's a good thing they don't offer refunds... because it's too late now.
